PE3 Engine Control Units

Flexible, motorsport-ready engine control for everything from compact single-cylinder builds to full standalone multi-cylinder applications. Choose the PE3 ECU that matches your engine, environment and packaging needs.

  • Standalone fuel & ignition control options
  • Compact packages for tight engine bays and powersports
  • Options for harsh environments and ignition-only control

Note: All PE3 products require proper wiring, sensors and professional calibration. Always follow official documentation for pinouts and operating limits.

Which ECU should I choose?

  • PE3-8400A – general-purpose standalone ECU in a lightweight aluminum case.
  • PE3-8400P – sealed, potted ECU for harsh or wet environments.
  • PE3-SP000 – compact standalone ECU for single & twin-cylinder engines.
  • PE3-IG2 – ignition-only controller for carbureted or mechanically fueled engines.

PE3 ECU lineup

PE3-8400A — Aluminum Standalone ECU

General-purpose PE3 ECU for multi-cylinder builds in a compact aluminum enclosure. Ideal for most street/track, drift, time-attack and swap projects where you need full fuel and ignition control.

  • Standalone engine management for performance and custom builds.
  • Programmable fuel and ignition maps via PC-based tuning software.
  • Compact case for easy mounting in engine bays or cabins.
  • Suitable for a wide range of engines when wired and calibrated correctly.

PE3-8400P — Sealed / Potted Standalone ECU

A sealed, encapsulated version of the PE3 ECU for harsh environments. Designed for off-road, marine-style and powersports applications where moisture, dust and vibration are part of the job.

  • Fully potted enclosure helps protect internal electronics.
  • Ideal for off-road buggies, UTVs and other exposed installations.
  • Programmable fuel and ignition control using PC-based tuning software.
  • Compact footprint with options for sealed harnesses and connectors.

PE3-SP000 — Compact ECU for 1–2 Cylinders

A small-footprint standalone ECU for single and twin-cylinder engines. Purpose-built for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, karts and compact custom projects where packaging space is tight.

  • Optimized for single and two-cylinder engine platforms.
  • Programmable fuel and ignition control for small-displacement builds.
  • Compact enclosure that fits where larger ECUs cannot.
  • Great for powersports, karting and small-engine R&D.

PE3-IG2 — Ignition-Only Controller

Programmable ignition-only ECU for engines that retain carburetors or mechanical fuel systems. Perfect when you want modern spark control and keep your existing fuel setup.

  • Controls spark timing only; fuel remains separate.
  • Useful for carbureted race engines and vintage performance builds.
  • Can be configured for modern ignition layouts where supported.
  • Allows precise adjustment of ignition advance curves and compensation.

How to choose the right PE3 ECU

1. Engine & environment

Start with engine type and where the ECU will live. Multi-cylinder track or street builds often suit the PE3-8400A, while harsh off-road or marine-style environments point toward the sealed PE3-8400P.

2. Cylinder count & packaging

Single or twin-cylinder engines where packaging is critical are ideal for the PE3-SP000. It offers core PE3 functionality in a smaller enclosure that is easier to mount on powersports and kart platforms.

3. Fuel vs ignition-only

If you want programmable ignition while keeping carburetors or mechanical injection, the PE3-IG2 provides spark-only control without the complexity of a full fuel conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a professional tuner?

Yes, professional installation and tuning are strongly recommended for all PE3 ECUs. Proper wiring, sensor selection and calibration are critical for reliability and engine safety.

Are base maps included?

Availability of base maps depends on the specific engine and package. Treat any base calibration as a starting point only; every engine still requires a proper tune.

What else do I need to run a PE3 ECU?

At minimum, you will need a suitable wiring harness, compatible sensors, appropriate ignition hardware, a laptop with tuning software, and access to a dyno or controlled tuning environment.
